Lately I’ve been playing my Bloodelf hunter a lot. Well, I say a lot, but I’m actually taking my time with her. She’s only level 93 but I really want to get her to 100 and then focus on the human warlock and I even rolled a belf rogue. A class I suck at so much, it’s a new challenge now for me.

All these chars reside on Argent Dawn which is an rp server and that’s exactly what I want tot do with my characters. Raiding doesn’t tickle my fancy any longer and I’m tired of my alliance characters (not entirely otherwise I wouldn’t have a human lock ;)) so hopefully running around on horde side I will feel inspired again to play.

Finding your way in WoW again

We’ve all been there. You’ve been playing a game you love to death for several months, years, decade and all of a sudden you have no urge to log in anymore and when you do it’s only for a few seconds.

This is what happens to me on occasion with wow. I get periods that I just don’t find the game that interesting and will unsub for a while to try something else. The difference is that normally this happens in between xpansions. Warlords hasn’t even been out for 6 months and I already feel like it for the last weeks.

I tried focusing on a new char, my human warlock Zoellha and as much fun I had on here, warlock doesn’t ‘fit’ me. I tried going back to druids, but even they don’t seem to do it for me. Then I remembered my bloodelf hunter. I only leveled her to level 7 but I found her quite fun to play. So I figured I would test to see if I’d enjoy playing her.

In a day I got her to level 58…. then I pushed her to 60 and gave her my free WoD boost to 90. I am hoping that if I focus on her background story and do all the horde quests on her I will find some love for the game again. This has worked in the past and I already have written down a long background story for her, so I’m hoping to get the chance to roleplay more with her too.

Here’s hoping!

Did you ever try something ‘new’ in game to find the love again?

TSW is F2P?

So The Secret World is now Free 2 play? Well, guess what I’m doing *smirks*

tswI always loved this game, but I wasn’t willing to pay for two subs. You can understand how happy I am that TSW is now free 2 play. I’ll be leveling my Templar character to see the storylines from that perspective. Happy Days now that all my current mmo’s have gone free to play (well except for wow)

I’ve been feeling a bit sick for a few days now and I couldn’t do my normal Monday to Friday posts. I’ll just do a recap for this week in this post.

WoW

I’ve still been pottering along on my Destro warlock and she is a lot of fun, however now that I’ve hit Desolace I’ve hit a brick wall. I love Desolace questing a lot more now than pre-cata, it’s just not pulling me in as much as I hope. On the good side though I have been running around on my Tauren Shaman in Pandaria and I am really enjoying her elemental spec. I am trying  to be brave enough to jump into a dungeon and heal, but I have no idea how to resto on a shaman. Perhaps doing some bg’s on her as a healer would help.

On Raiding

I haven’t raided in ages now. I’ve said on the podcast (ggw) before that I’m not meshing that well with my resto/balance druid at the moment. I love my druid, but it just doesn’t feel like it’s in a good spot. Also due to some personal issues going on within my raiding guild, I have a feeling that that guild will implode soon. I know I can go back to Itp because they are wonderful people, but a part of me is curious if it would help me love my toon again if I would join an rp guild. Just to get some rp in with her again. Who knows, at the moment I’m not playing her at all. I haven’t even seen the new stuff in 5.1 in the Krasarang Wilds.

Other games

With the massive steam sale going on I’ve bought several games: Dead space 1 and 2, Dragon Age 1 (complete collection) and the Witcher 1 and 2. I am really a scardypants when it comes to Dead Space, but the story is so good. I want to know what happened! I am enjoying Dragon Age again and I actually am going to play through the entire story for once. Last time I played it I stopped at 25% in I think.

I’m still running around in Star Wars the Old Republic as my female trooper. It’s nice seeing the story from the Republic  side for once, but I guess I’ll be an Imperial deep down.  I’ve also rebooted Vampire the Masquerade: bloodlines and I love the story and rp-side of that game, though I find it hard not to be a graphic snob and get over some of the graphic issues in the cut scenes.

Other stuff in my life

I’m still trying to lose weight and so far it’s going quite well. I’ve lost 12lbs now and that’s a quarter of my first goal; losing 50lbs. I need to do this for some of the plans I have in 2013. I am going to reward myself at every stone lost with a little geeky something. Not quite sure what yet, but I do know that when I reach my end goal I’m going to treat myself to some nice warcraft hoodies from Jinx!

Hard work pays off it seems. After a week of working my ass of with Jillian Michaels and her 30 day shred and starting week 1 of c25k, I can already notice a difference in my stamina. I also kept tracking my calories and nutrition and it all paid off. I’ve lost 5lbs in my first week.

I am really over the moon with this. Now a week ago I would have said I only cared about the pounds flying off, but working out has done something strange to me. This morning I did my third run on c25k. Now how this programme works is as following: you warm up, and then you run for 60 seconds and after that a brisk walk for 90 seconds, rinse and repeat. At the beginning of the week I did reasonably ok. I couldn’t finish every run, but it didn’t bother me. I was just starting out. However, Wednesday I did really badly. I only could finish 2 runs of the 8 I had to do. I was so disappointed with myself. This morning however, I only had 2 of the 8 runs that I couldn’t do completely. It’s been such a long time that I’ve been so proud of myself. I’m finding it more and more important to actually also look at my health instead of just the weight. I’ve always wanted to be a runner, but I never saw it happening. After this morning, I finally believe that with patience and time I might actually run by the end of the year for 45 minutes in a row.

Now because of all of this it’s been a bit quiet on the gaming front. I guess I got a bit of a burn out with WoW. I have those now and again and I’m sure that in a few weeks I’ll be happily grinding along, gaining levels on my toons. I’ve been thinking of making a druid my main. Now I always thought that would be my nelf who has been my main forever in Vanilla, tbc and wrath, but lately I’m wondering if perhaps I should switch to horde as my main side. Not sure and I need to ponder about this idea for a while.

And my last geeky news: I got a paint station for my Warhammer models. I have two big armies (woodelves and Chaos Daemons) and I should really finish both. At least with this paint station I can move everything around when I need my desk free, but still keep it all together. See that big dragon on the station; yeah I’m making that big boy my main project! I’ll keep updates on this blog about how he’s coming along.
